Day 1 | Courage

Courage: You take on challenges and face risks by standing up for what you believe

Definition: Courage is the intentional choice and willingness to confront agony, pain, danger, uncertainty or intimidation; having the ability to do something that frightens you.

Scripture

God commands us to walk in the boldness of our courage knowing He has promised to be with us.

Deuteronomy 31:6

Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.

Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

  • Know that our Lord is a mighty warrior 

  • In Deuteronomy 20:4 the Lord goes with his people to fight against their enemies, and gives them the victory

Day 2 | Detail Oriented

Detail Oriented: You pay attention to detail in order to produce high quality output, no matter what the pressures


Definition: Being detail oriented encompasses having the ability and urge to focus extensively on a particular thing

Scripture

God never fails to show us his detailed plan for all He has purposed for us to be and do, evident in His instructions to the Israelites as they worked to build a tabernacle for His glory. 

 

Exodus 25:9: You must make it according to all that I show you  —  the pattern of the tabernacle as well as the pattern of all its furnishings.

  • He’s not a God who loves from afar

  • He’s a God who cares about the details of our lives

  • Nothing is too small to present to Him

  • Nothing escapes His attention, His care, and His love

 

Prayer: Dear Lord, I am amazed that You are intimately acquainted with the details of my life and You care about me and the smallest matters. Thank You for being such a personal God. Please help me pay attention to the details in my life and study of Your word as I draw closer to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Detail Oriented

Day 3 | Relationship Building

Relationship Building:  You take steps to build networks of contacts and act as a ‘hub’ between people that you know

 

Definition: Relationship building is the ability to develop and maintain positive and meaningful connections with others.

Scripture

God has provided us with the gift of other people for the purpose of building relationships and connections.

 

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 

9 Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor.

10 For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up.

  • As we look to live on mission and live out our calling to build the kingdom, our relationships are critical pieces to our spiritual journey 

  • Ephesians calls for us to walk in humility, gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love

  • A Godly love is at the center of each of our relationships, and with love as the foundation, our relationships can thrive

Day 4 | Developing Others

Developing Others: You promote other people’s learning and development to help them achieve their goals and fulfil their potential 

 

Definition: Developing others is providing encouragement, coaching, support and recognition to enhance an individual's performance, development and motivation. It is inspiring others to walk in the potential of their being.

Scripture: 

God has called us to lift up one another in ways that build, encourage and support one another. 1 

Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

 

Key Takeaways

  • We should build others up in a way that they can be encouraged to do the things that God has created them to do

  • Despite complacency or fear, we are to support God's purpose for their lives 

  • Building up a person isn't always encouraging them, but also teaching and training them

 

Prayer: Father God, we come to you asking for patience to build others up. Lord, give us the words to say to touch people's hearts. Give us the words that each person needs to hear to be encouraged and strengthened. Lord, let the training and teachings we give build people up to be better equipped to serve You. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Developing Others

Day 5 | Creativity

Creativity: You generate new ideas and original solutions to move things forward


Definition: Creativity is defined as bringing into existence; to produce through imaginative skill.

Scripture:

God's creativity is evident throughout the bible, from forming the earth to creating us in His image. 

Jeremiah 1:5a "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you..." 

Genesis 1:27 "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." 

Ephesians 2:10 "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."

  • Being creative is the infinite gift given to every one of us based on being created in the image of the ultimate Creator

  • God created us as a reflection of Himself. 

  • In that reflection, we are and extension of who He is, a Creator, filling us with His creativity

 

Prayer

Father God, each and everyday, I pray that we are walking in the creation of your handiwork, a reflection filled with all that you are. I pray for the rest in knowing who we are in Christ and allow that knowing to bring into existence the creativity inside of each of us. I pray that we are all gifted with the joy of walking in all of Your creation. In Jesus name, Amen.

Day 6 | Empathy

Empathy: You readily identify with other people’s situations and can see things clearly from their perspective


Definition: Empathy encompasses feeling another person's pain even if you have not experienced their situation.

Scripture

God gives us a heart to have a passion/suffering spirit for others that is the result of loving those around us like we love ourselves. 

Matthew 22:37-40: Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." 38 This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to be companionate in our Christian walk and willing to love our neighbors as ourselves. Give us the wisdom to be imitators of your spirit and willing to bear the burdens our fellow man whom we come in contact. Empathy

Day 7 | Compassion

Compassion: You demonstrate a deep and genuine concern for the well- being and welfare of others

 

Definition: Sympathetic is having pity and concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others. It is the feeling that arises when you are confronted with another's suffering and feel motivated to relieve that suffering

Ephesians 4:32 | And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. 

 

Isaiah 30:18 | Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.

  • People will fall on hard times during their lifetime

  • Never give up on them because God doesn’t give up on you

  • Don't expect those you help to return the favor do it out of your kind heart

 

Prayer: Dear Lord, we come to you to say thank you. We know that you have given so much compassion to us because you love us. You continue to wrap your arms around us and go before us to shield us from harm. We ask that you forgive us for our sins and continue to lead us on the path of righteousness. In Jesus Name, Amen

Day 8 | Critical Thinking

Critical Thinking: You approach problems and arguments by breaking them down systematically and evaluating them objectively

Definition: Critical thinking is careful thinking directed to a goal; the objective analysis and evaluation of an issue in order to form a judgment.

Scripture

Proverbs 14:15 | The simple believes every word, But the prudent considers well his steps. 2 Timothy 2:7 Consider what I say, and [a]may the Lord give you understanding in all things

 

1 John 4:1 | Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

  • Critical thinking is at the core of our spiritual and physical beings

  • By allowing the Holy Spirit to guide our thoughts and approach, the Lord can grant us discernment and direct your thought process

  • This process is how we, live on mission and build the kingdom of God

 

Prayer: Dear Lord, we thank you for walking with us, each day. We ask you take captive our thoughts and fill any gap with your love, intentionality, and kindness. We pray you give our live meaning and help us to use our mind to advance the kingdom and bring people closer to you. Thank you fr granting us a sound mind and full heart. In Jesus Name, Amen.
